JEDDAH – September 03, 2025 (Report by Noor-ul-Hassan Gujjar) – To commemorate Pakistan Defence Day, a grand Mushaira (poetic symposium) was organized under the joint auspices of Kababish Arts Council Jeddah and Alami Halqa-e-Fikr-o-Fun. The event brought together prominent members of the Pakistani community in Jeddah, featuring literary excellence and national pride.

Renowned Pakistani poet Nadeem Bhaba graced the occasion as the guest of honor. The gathering was also attended by official representation from the Pakistan Consulate Jeddah, with Irfan Chaudhry in attendance, and by distinguished educationist and social personality Chaudhry Allah Ditta Warraich.

The program, conducted by Aftab Turabi, opened with a soulful Naat presented by Imran Shah, followed by a warm welcome address from Ali Khurshid Sultan.

Speakers emphasized that September 6 serves as a reminder of the sacrifices of Pakistan’s brave martyrs who laid down their lives for the defense of the nation. They highlighted that the Mushaira aimed to instill patriotism among the younger generation and promote national unity.

Local poets of Jeddah, including Tashfeen Syed, Faisal Tufail, and Aftab Turabi, captivated the audience with stirring verses on love for the homeland and sacrifice. The guest poet, Nadeem Bhaba, enthralled the gathering with his eloquent and heartfelt poetry, blending patriotism with intellectual depth and lyrical finesse, earning resounding applause.

In his presidential address, Ashfaq Badaiyuni described the Mushaira as a memorable addition to Jeddah’s literary history. He congratulated the organizers, Ali Khurshid Sultan and Aftab Turabi, for the successful event, paying special tribute to Turabi’s literary contributions. He also hailed Nadeem Bhaba’s participation as a “refreshing breeze,” praising the emotional and thought-provoking impact of his poetry.

The evening concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to Nadeem Bhaba, a ceremonial cake-cutting to mark Pakistan Defence Day, and a lavish dinner in honor of the guests. The event ended with a collective prayer led by Qari Abdul Basit.
