Riyadh, September 01, 2025 – Shahid Originals announces the release of its latest Saudi production, “Black February”, a dark comedy series marking the much-anticipated return of legendary star Nasser Al-Qasabi to the screen after more than two years. Written by Nasser Al-Azzaz and directed by Amr Salah, the series explores a pivotal period in Saudi Arabia’s modern history with a blend of satire, drama, and humor.
Set between 2004 and 2006, the story follows Saud (played by Nasser Al-Qasabi), a clever conman recently released from prison. Using wit and deceit, Saud manipulates the stock market boom and its subsequent crash, exploiting greed and ambition to rebuild his influence while navigating complex family conflicts.
The cast features some of the most prominent names in Saudi entertainment, including Habib Al-Habib, Khalid Al-Farraj, Sanaa Bakr Younis, Yazid Al-Mujayel, and Loulou Al-Tamimi, alongside a host of talented rising stars.
Al-Qasabi explains that “Black February” revisits an unforgettable era that dominated public conversation in Saudi society. “Drama allows us to transform what might seem like dry financial events—numbers, offices, and transactions—into powerful, relatable storytelling. Characters like Saud are not pure villains; they carry human dimensions that make them engaging and thought-provoking.”
Playing Ali, Saud’s cousin and lifelong friend, Habib Al-Habib highlights the balance between comedy and drama in the series. He praises Nasser Al-Qasabi’s creativity, calling him the “godfather” of Saudi comedy, and emphasizes that he would only accept a supporting role if it meant working alongside him.
Veteran actress Sanaa Bakr Younis portrays Umm Saud, a mother unaware of her son’s criminal past. As the story unfolds, she becomes entangled in stock market schemes that strain her relationships with neighbors and family.
Yazid Al-Mujayel plays Rashid, a young man who hides his failures by posing as devoutly religious, only to be seduced by greed. He describes his role as a critical commentary on hypocrisy and opportunism.
In her role as Huda, the wife of Ali and Saud’s sister, Loulou Al-Tamimi explores themes of marriage, infertility, and familial expectations, while also sharing her excitement at working alongside Saudi television icons.
“Black February” is now streaming exclusively on Shahid, bringing audiences a unique mix of sharp comedy, human drama, and historical reflection on one of Saudi Arabia’s most unforgettable financial and social chapters.
