Makkah – A Royal Decree has announced the appointment of Imam of the Grand Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid, as the new Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, following the passing of former Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh.
Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid was born in 1949 in the Saudi city of Buraidah and memorized the Holy Qur’an at a young age. He earned a degree in Islamic Jurisprudence from Umm Al-Qura Islamic University in Makkah. He is among the nine Imams of the Grand Mosque and previously served as Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council from 2002 to 2009
