Riyadh — Senior Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) official Shakeel Ahmed, Manager Central Province, met with renowned journalist Rana Azeem to discuss PIA’s services, operational challenges, and the airline’s continued commitment to serving the Pakistani community abroad.
During the meeting, Ahmed stated that he has been associated with PIA for over 15 years and has served in multiple departments across the organization. He highlighted his experience in almost all marketing and operational sections, extensive airport operations, and his role in assisting Pakistani passengers during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Referring to the strict travel restrictions imposed by Saudi Arabia during COVID-19, Ahmed noted that passengers were required to arrive within 72 hours to avoid visa and permit cancellations.
“This was a significant challenge, but PIA stood by its people,” he said. “Flights from other routes were rescheduled, and special flights were operated from Islamabad to Saudi Arabia to facilitate passengers.”
Ahmed also shared his experience as Sales Manager in Rawalpindi, where his responsibilities extended to Kharian, Mirpur, Skardu, Gilgit, and Muzaffarabad.
“Wherever PIA operates, it remains closely connected with the people of Pakistan,” he added.
Expressing gratitude to PIA’s senior management, Ahmed said he was recently assigned new responsibilities in Riyadh, enabling him to engage directly with the Pakistani community.

The meeting concluded with Ahmed reaffirming PIA’s commitment to continued cooperation with the Pakistani community and strengthening coordination with the media.
