Riyadh: Under the patronage of Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture, the first edition of the Non-Profit Cultural Sector Forum commenced in Riyadh at the King Fahd Cultural Center.

During the opening session titled “Culture as Soft Power: Redefining the Role of the Non-Profit Sector in Shaping the Future,” Prince Turki Al-Faisal, Chairman of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, emphasized that culture in Saudi Arabia is rooted in Islamic principles, ethical values, and a deep respect for humanity and the heritage of the Arabian Peninsula.

Prince Turki highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of Culture in providing the necessary resources and capabilities to ensure the success of non-profit cultural institutions. He stressed the important role of Saudi citizens as ambassadors of their culture, promoting it through adherence to Islamic values and national principles.

He also praised the Kingdom’s efforts in strengthening national culture through educational programs, which have helped society counter negative influences, especially in the era of widespread social media.

The two-day forum aims to shed light on the non-profit cultural sector and its role in shaping the future, as well as the opportunities it offers. The sector has witnessed significant growth following the Ministry of Culture’s strategy, which includes initiatives such as establishing professional associations, aligning entities transferred from the Ministry of Media, classification and qualification programs, and performance-based support to ensure impactful development in the cultural sector.
