Riyadh, The Horse Racing Club has announced the inclusion of the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Cup, named in honor of the late His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz, as one of the official feature cups of the annual Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz Festival for two-year-old horses. The prestigious event is held annually under the generous patronage and support of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The festival will bring together an elite field of two-year-old Thoroughbred colts and fillies, alongside three-year-old Purebred Arabian horses, attracting strong interest from owners, trainers, and racing enthusiasts.
On this occasion, His Royal Highness Prince Bandar bin Khalid Al Faisal, Chairman of the Equestrian Authority and Chairman of the Horse Racing Club, expressed his sincere appreciation to Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz for his continuous and growing support of horse racing. He emphasized that this generous backing plays a vital role in strengthening competition, enhancing the quality of racing, and elevating the sport’s status in the Kingdom.
The approval of the Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Cup serves as a tribute to the late Prince’s historic legacy and his significant contributions to the Kingdom’s development and nation-building, reflecting the race’s deep national symbolism and prestige.
The annual Prince Faisal bin Khalid Festival will feature three prestigious cups, each carrying a prize purse of SAR 1 million.
The races include:
- The Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Cup for locally bred and imported three-year-old Purebred Arabian horses over 1,600 meters.
- The Princess Sita bint Fahd Al-Damer Cup for two-year-old Thoroughbred fillies.
- The Prince Faisal bin Khalid Cup for two-year-old Thoroughbred colts, with both Thoroughbred races contested over 1,600 meters.
The Horse Racing Club confirmed that the official date of the festival will be announced as part of the final calendar for the upcoming Riyadh racing season.
