In Pakistan’s fast-evolving corporate landscape, digital transformation is no longer optional—it’s essential. At the forefront of this change stands Ijlal Jafri, the Group Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Martin Dow Group, one of the nation’s leading pharmaceutical conglomerates.

During our conversation, Ijlal Jafri spoke passionately about the role of technology in shaping the future of business. “Our goal,” he explained, “is to make technology an enabler of innovation, not just an operational necessity. Every layer of our organization should feel empowered by the digital tools we provide.”

With over 25 years of international experience, Ijlal Jafri brings a rare blend of technical expertise and strategic insight. His career spans multiple countries, giving him the ability to implement global best practices in AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and enterprise data strategy. “Learning from different markets and cultures has taught me how to scale solutions that really make a difference,” he said.

Under his leadership, Martin Dow Group has achieved landmark milestones in AI-powered automation, data-driven decision-making, and enterprise agility, setting a benchmark for Pakistan’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

Ijlal Jafri’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed. He is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Global CIO Award (2022 and 2025), and he recently represented Pakistan on the international stage at the award’s grand finale in Egypt. “It’s a proud moment,” he shared, “not just for me, but for our team and the entire technology ecosystem in Pakistan.”

Beyond his professional achievements, Ijlal Jafri is committed to nurturing the next generation of IT leaders. As a visiting faculty member, career coach, and member of academic boards, he bridges the gap between industry and academia. “Talent is everywhere,” he says, “but guidance and mentorship are key to unlocking it.” His work with CAAS (CIO As A Service) and the OICCI IT Sub-Committee further reflects his dedication to building a robust national technology ecosystem.

Born and raised in Lahore in a family with deep roots in business and public service, Ijlal Jafri chose a career in computer science. A graduate of FC College, he pursued postgraduate studies at Punjab University and the University of Management and Technology Lahore, laying a solid foundation for his professional journey.

Outside work, Jafri is a lifelong sports enthusiast. From his cricket-playing days to his current passion for golf, he believes in maintaining balance and discipline. “Sports teach you patience, strategy, and resilience—lessons that carry over to the workplace,” he remarked.

From implementing AI-driven enterprise solutions to mentoring the next generation of technology pioneers, Ijlal Jafri embodies the qualities of a modern CIO—innovative, strategic, and globally connected. Under his guidance, Martin Dow Group is not just adopting technology—it is transforming it into a force for sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
