JEDDAH (Noor-ul-Hasan Gujar): The Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah commemorated Kashmir Exploitation Day with a special ceremony to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The event was attended by H.E. Ambassador Syed Fawad Sher, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as the chief guest.

The ceremony aimed to reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people, highlight the significance of India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, and draw attention to the alleged human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

On the occasion, special messages from the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were read out. The messages reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s internationally recognized right to self-determination and reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue its political, diplomatic, and moral support for their just struggle.

A documentary highlighting the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir was also screened, focusing on the humanitarian challenges and alleged human rights violations faced by the Kashmiri people.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Ambassador Syed Fawad Sher, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the OIC; Deputy Consul General Farina Arshad; Masood Ahmed Puri, Chairman of the Kashmir Committee; Engineer Arif Mughal, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Community Overseas; and other speakers emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. They also urged the international community to play a more effective role in ensuring the protection of human rights in the region.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri communities, business and social leaders, and media representatives. The event concluded with a special prayer for the martyrs of Kashmir, the well-being of the Kashmiri people, the peace and prosperity of Pakistan, and a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
